i am so so so so so obsessed with macrame. you have no clue. currently i am in the process of learning how to work it into my practice, but have not come up with anything worth showing quite yet. so i decided to share with you some of my inspirations and ideas. call me a flash back 60s / 70s hippie chick all you want, but man was there some cool stuff made back in the day! as with my collection of books on terrariums and indoor plants, my collection of macrame books are from the same time.
here are my two favorite guide books of the moment... and my jute bundle and ring ready to get started (one of the books featured below is actually a loaner from my dear friend paulanna).
some of the cool creations i have been digging....
this is the amazing macrame hanging sculpture that morgan gifted me at the sale that has been a major source of inspiration. it serves no functional purpose but of making me really happy and i touch it often, or just look fondly over at it. (please excuse the pile of pines in the back. it has been windy and i have had little time to deal with the madness!).
this is what i really want to make (but with plants coming out and around - naturally!) ...
heee heee.... this macrame love is not over... it is just the beginning!

Uuuh! Just did that once in elementary school (too long ago, don't ask!) and made a hanging basket for my mother! I just found it again these days, lying on the bottom of a box, forgotten for years! Maybe I'll find some place to hang it again - isn't there a 70's-Hippie-Trend going on again? I definitely wouldn't wear it, but this hanging tent is looking kind of cozy...
ReplyDeleteOH MY, that macrame house is AMAZING! just love it. My mum recently gave me a book with 'how to do macrame' in it, look intriguing but really doesn't that appealing to make. can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteI love macrame too! I would love to learn how and make some planters for my succulent collection. How have you found it, is it hard to get the hang of?
ReplyDeleteis that a macrame cubby house?! that is the best thins i've seen all night! thank you :)
ReplyDeleteyou are too cool. you would be into macrame, lady, that's all i have to say. :)
ReplyDeleteThose vintage books are all kinds of radical. Can I commission you to make me that hut please? lol.

ReplyDeleteMacrame is so nice, I did it a lot when I was a child, but I forgot how to make it. Maybe I will also try sometimes in the future again.
ReplyDeletewe are almost exactly on the same wave length. I'm gathering images for a macramé blog post for my work. I really want to try making a big wall hanging!
